![]() ![]() As I read this story, I wondered to myself how often do I think I have “it” figured out when I’m still missing important information. ![]() Being open-minded to others with different personal experiences, cultural backgrounds, and view points creates communal insight. They accepted each other’s perspectives and understood they had reasoning to believe their earlier statements were true. Once the object was declared an elephant, the group explored the separate parts together. Considering all his friends perspectives, the last mouse knew there was a bigger answer to be discovered. Each mouse was confident they figured out the mystery object, but they only analyzed a single part of a large whole. When we look at a problem in a one directional manor, we miss information provided from different perspectives that could be useful for problem solving. This clever story is a great example of socialcultural constructivism at work. ![]()
